RE: JMS Ruined TV
Proof that you can't please every one. I had no choice but to start watching B5 just before the start of season three and had no problem figuring out what was going on after a few episodes this is just one of those people who have to have every thing and they have to have it now,

RE: JMS Ruined TV
Such a silly notion. After reading that he liked the arch of Lost but coplaines about the one in B5 it must be obvious that the man is a lunatic.

But I give him one thing though. JMS together with Joss Whedon did ruin TV for me. 'Cos nowadays I find it hard to watch many of the new shows as I have come to expect high quality writing.

Lamb. Innocent and delicious!

RE: JMS Ruined TV
I find this article absolutely absurd. This isn't the 1980s anymore, Jonathan Wright. Thanks to the ability to watch shows online (via e.g. Hulu) or via Netflix, even if they're new to an established show, folks can easily catch up. We don't have to settle for dumbed down, episodic shows that have to tell a story and wrap up in just over 40 minutes, where in the end nothing really happens, as the protagonist slayed the beast, beat the bad guy, and are (more or less) where they were at the beginning. Throwing out the reset button is a bad thing?! You've gotta be kidding me. Maybe you prefer episodic television, but I prefer more story arc absed (not necessarily completely serialized) character driven shows that really allow a viewer to be immersed in great writing. Maybe one day you'll grow out of this "baby food" television you seem to miss so much.

...

*sigh*

Silly notion, especially from someone in the UK... clearly he's never seen Doctor Who, Blake7, Survivors, A for Andromeda...

The bloke is a twit and unless someone here cares to back him up*, Its so easy to smack his argument down that I won't even bother.

*and to be honest I'm not even sure that that would make me

I'm not going to read the article, but my reaction to the subject title is that, yes, indeed JMS ruined TV for B5 fans - hardly anything can compare with it. We are too spoiled by B5 to enjoy most television. Smiley

Mostly good writing. A story arc. So forth. Hmm. Yeah, JMS did ruin quite a bit of TV for me. So much no longer stacks up or perks my interest.

True. And if he wants to call that "ruining" then I'm all for it. Smiley

RE: JMS Ruined TV
Agreed. Not counting shows from Discovery Channel, History Channel and Adult Swim, the only show I've been able to get into was Arrested Development
